What We Believe

The Holy Scriptures

We believe that every word of the Holy Scriptures, both the Old and the New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God.  We affirm that holy men of God were moved by the Spirit of God to choose and record the exact words in the original writings, and as such, the Scripture are the authoritative and accurate rule for faith and practice.  2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

The Godhead

We believe in the one Triune God, existing in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.  John 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; 1 John 5:7

The Person and Work of Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary in order that He might reveal God and accomplish man’s redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice.

We believe that our justification is made sure by his literal, physical resurrection from the dead wherein He ascended to Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor and Advocate.   Luke 1:35; Ephesians 1:7; Romans 8:34

The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person and that he convicts the world of sin, of righteousness and judgment, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration and that at the moment of salvation He baptizes all believers into the Body of Christ, and from that moment on He guides the believers into all truth, provides comfort and that he indwells and seals them until the day of redemption;  John 16:8-13; Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:26

The Total Depravity and Redemption of Man

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God.  Thus man is totally depraved, and of himself, unable to redeem his lost condition.  However by an act of personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we receive salvation from God by His grace.  Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:12; Ephesians 1:7, 2:`1-13

The Eternal Security and Assurance of the Believer

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.  John 5:24, 6:37, 10:27-29; Romans 8:38-39

Spiritual Gifts

We believe that god the Holy Spirit is sovereign in the bestowment of all gifts and that he equips each believer by fitting him/her with spiritual gifts(s) for the purpose of ministering in His will.  1 Cor. 12:4-11.

We believe that speaking in tongues and sign miracles ceased as the New Testament Scriptures were completed.  We thus believe that God does not bestow the “sign gifts” such as tongues, interpretation of tongues, healing by command or touch, etc., today.  1 Corinthians 13:8-10

We believe that God does hear and answer the prayer of faith in accord with his own will for the sick and afflicted.  We believe that it is the believer’s privilege to call for the elders of the church to let them pray over him/her, anointing him/her with oil in the name of the Lord.  John 15:7; James 5:14-15.

Separation

We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord, and that separation from all sinful pleasures, practices and associations is commanded of God.   Romans 12:1-2; 14:13; 1 John 2:15-17

We believe that separation also obligates the local church to refuse cooperation with all forms of liberalism, ecumenism, and neo-evangelicalism, as well as those who promote the same.  We feel that alignment with such movements constitutes a weakening of the strong stand of the Word of God.  2 Cor. 6:14; 2 Thess. 3:6, 14-15.

The Church

We believe that the church with Jesus Christ as head is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons of this present age.  We believe that the local church is a congregation of immersed believers, joined by the covenant of faith for the purposes of (1.) edifying and coaching one another in the faith in order to be equipped for ministry, and (2.)  evangelizing the world through our personal witness and through world-wide missionary endeavor.  Ephesians 5:23-27, 4:11-13; Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that the ordinances of the church are (1) the baptism of the believer by immersion in water, and (2) the communion of the Lord’s Supper.  Baptism is symbolic of the believer’s identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Christ on his behalf.  The Lord’s Supper is a remembrance of the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ through representative elements whic looks both forward to His return and backward to His sacrifice for the redeemed.  Partaking of these ordinances is in no way a means of salvation.  Luke 22:19-20; Acts 8:37-38

The Second Advent of Christ

We believe that the “blessed hope,” is the personal, imminent, pre-tribulation and premillennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for his redeemed ones.  Likewise we affirm his subsequent return to earth with his saints to establish his Millennial Kingdom.  Zechariah 14:4-11; 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 4;13-18; Titus 2:11-14; Revelation 3:10, 19:11-16.

The Eternal State

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men; the saved to the everlasting presence with God, and the unsaved to judgment, separation from God, and everlasting punishment.  Matthew 25:41-46; John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:5-6; 1 Thessalonians 4:16:-17

We believe that the souls of the redeemed are at death absent from the body and present with the Lord where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord.  Luke 23:43, 2 Corinthians 5:8

We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain after death in conscious misery until the second resurrection when with soul and body reunited, they shall appear a the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the Lake of fire not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment.  Luke 15:19-26; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9

Missions

Because we recognize the precarious state of the lost, it is the obligation of the saved to witness by life and by work to proclaim the Gospel to all mankind.  The local church shall encourage and participate in the development and expansion of world-wide missionary efforts Mark 16:15.

Marriage

We believe God designed marriage to be the uniting of one man and one woman into covenant relationship for life.  Within this union between a man and a woman sexual intercourse is good, right and for the well-being of both as determined by the Creator (Gen. 2:18-25; Malachi 2:14-16; 1 Cor. 7:4-5; Song of Solomon).   All sexual intercourse outside of God’s design for marriage is incongruent with the will of God and therefore sin (Gal. 5:19-21; Matthew 5:27-32; Romans 1:24-27; 13:13-14; 1 Corinthians 5: 1-13, 6:18; 1 Thess. 4:3).
